Why the Pure Sequence Matters

The essential idea

A pure sequence uses naturally ordered cards of one suit without a flexible substitute. In many Indian rummy formats it is the structural requirement around which the rest of the hand is organised.

A practical method

Look for two-card connectors such as consecutive values or a one-card gap. End cards have fewer completion possibilities than middle cards, so compare their flexibility before deciding what to keep.

Good judgement at the table

Once a natural run is secure, avoid breaking it for a flashy short-term option unless the full hand clearly improves. Stability reduces the number of unresolved cards.
